Playfly Sports Expands Leadership Team, Welcomes Nick Cartan as Senior VP and Head of Commercial Strategy

BERWYN, PA (May 15, 2024) – Playfly Sports, the Fan Focused and Data Driven leader in sports media, marketing and technology, has expanded its executive leadership team with the hiring of Nick Cartan as its Senior Vice President and Head of Commercial Strategy within Playfly Global Partnerships. Cartan will assume oversight of corporate business development, our Playfly Access partnership development group, and Playfly Premier sales efforts.

In the new role, Cartan will join Playfly’s executive leadership team, reporting to Craig Sloan, President of Playfly Sports. Based out of Southern California, Cartan joins the Playfly team after serving as Chief Commercial Officer for Thrill One Sports & Entertainment, a next-generation content company that lives at the nexus of sports, entertainment, and lifestyle. In prior stops, he made impactful executive management roles with the World Surf League and Fox Sports.

“As we look to understand, exploit and measure and monetize fandom better than anyone, we wanted a new enterprise-level person touching everything we do commercially, and Nick is that person,” said Sloan. “As one example, we can now have our [data] insights teams better linked with our ideation and creativity for activation. This should help one inform the other — as it should be.”

Cartan will work closely with Sloan on go-to-market strategies, placing narratives in the market using our best-in-class insights unit. Among his numerous commercial strategy efforts, he’ll also craft new initiatives, including spearheading a new data visualization effort to capitalize on developing needs of prospective partners.
