April 24, 2023 (Berwyn, Pa.) – Playfly Sports, the emerging leading sports marketing, media, and technology, today announced its plans for expansion and growth within its high school-focused functions. To build a stronger foundation of success across its existing high school multimedia rights (MMR) partners, the team will adopt a Regional General Manager structure to oversee operational excellence in addition to adding a Head of Growth and Innovation to facilitate emerging digital and fan-focused integrations to its portfolio of statewide association partners.
“High school sports are becoming increasingly sophisticated. The fan bases are growing at impressive rates, and the value for advertisers is swelling at the local, regional and national levels,” said President of Playfly Sports Properties Christy Hedgpeth. “With the rapid evolution happening within collegiate athletics, the high school space is quickly adapting to navigate name, image and likeness, digital engagement, and custom content more so than ever. We believe strongly in the critical community impact high school athletics makes, and this new structure will allow us to provide even more resources to our partner associations and ultimately student athletes.”
Brent Vander Mey will lead the newly-structured group, being elevated to GVP and Head of High School. Additionally, Ian Frost (General Manager, Oregon Schools Activities Association Sports Properties) has been promoted to Vice President for Growth and Innovation, teaming up with Brent and closely working with Playfly Sports Properties’ Growth and Innovation team, which has been working across the entire Playfly portfolio to usher in the next generation of MMR and property-based innovation to create new revenue streams and broaden fan bases at a national scale.
Two regional general managers will be instituted to lead growth across specified regions in the U.S. and Canada. Playfly has elevated two of its existing association-based general managers to the regional position: Zach Hoffman (Idaho High School Activities Association), and AJ Bramlett (New Mexico Activities Association).
As part of the broader Playfly Sports Properties division, the dedicated high school team currently partners with 13 statewide high school athletic associations and one provincial association to oversee and activate multimedia rights agreements and corporate sponsorships for championships and year-long initiatives. Additionally, the team’s growth will be fully supported by Playfly’s internal catalyst groups to bolster partnership development, insights, and creative work.
