Playfly Joins 2023 Black Student Athlete Summit to Host Inaugural Playfly Career Combine for Participating Student-Athletes

Berwyn, Pa.(May 16, 2023) – Ahead of the 2023 Black Student Athlete Summit powered by Playfly Sports, the presenting sponsor has announced details of its inaugural Playfly Career Combine experience being offered at this year’s event. The two-hour interactive session was crafted by Playfly leadership with the goal of preparing student-athletes to meet with employers who are offering full-time and internship opportunities.

“Balancing the demands of a student-athlete schedule leaves little time to prepare for the innate challenges of the modern job hunt, and we are honored to host this Career Combine as part of the incredible Summit agenda,” said Playfly’s Head of Human Resources, Kate McKinnon. “Dr. Moore’s mission to better serve and prepare the Black Student-Athlete population is highly aligned with our recruiting and career development values. Our goal is for participating student-athletes to take home a polished toolkit of application tools they can immediately implement into their job or internship search.”

McKinnon and Talent Acquisition Manager, Kevin Taylor, will lead the workshop with the help of Michigan State Sports Properties General Manager, Otis Wiley. Participating student-athletes will deep dive on essential career readiness topics such resume and cover letter foundations, one-way interviewing, and LinkedIn best practices.

The Playfly Career Combine will take place as part of the 2023 Black Student Athlete Summit powered by Playfly Sports. The four-day Summit will be hosted by the University of Southern California, a Playfly Sports Properties partner university, and kicks off on Monday, May 21. Founded by Dr. Leonard Moore, the Black Student Athlete Summit brings together more than 1,000 Black Student-Athletes, professionals, and influencers from the world of college athletics to ensure greater support for Black Student-Athletes in the classroom and beyond so they can be globally competitive in the job market.

2023 marks the second consecutive year of Playfly Sports’ presenting partnership. In addition to the Career Combine event, Playfly has been working alongside Dr. Moore and the Summit team to elevate the event with technology resources, sponsorship sales support, and more.
