Extra Life partners with Playfly Sports and JLab for new Charity Challenge featuring EA College Football 25

BERWYN, PA (November 21, 2024) – The esports division of Playfly Sports, the Fan Focused and Data Driven leader in sports media, marketing, and technology, today announced a new program that it will be supporting with its charity partner, Extra Life, a program of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The tournament will feature EA College Football 25 and will be open to all participants over the age of 16.  Each registrant will be responsible for a charity donation of $15 in order to enter. JLab will be an official sponsor of the program and will contribute to prizing and marketing of the event via their college athletics NIL relationships.

“We’ve been working diligently with our partners at Extra Life, JLab and EA to have this meaningful program come to fruition,” said Charles O’Donnell, Head of Esports at Playfly.  “We plan on this being an annual event and we are excited that the timing for this year will be around the first expanded College Football Playoffs in January.”

“Collegiate gaming communities are often siloed at the institution level. Esports, Gaming, and Fundraising groups can potentially sit under student unions, athletics, or other governing bodies. Because of that, they might function as three independent groups without visibility to one another,” said Francisco Tejada, Sr. Director of Marketing for Playfly Esports. “Our goal is to continue recruiting team captains and leaders on campus, connecting these siloed groups, and establish a direct connection with Extra Life and their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.”

“We’re thrilled to offer students and the esports community this powerful opportunity to make a real difference in children’s lives through this tournament,” said Jeff Montegut, Director of Extra Life. “Every dollar can support life-saving care, groundbreaking research, and access to care that every child deserves. When you choose to compete and fundraise, your efforts directly impact the children’s hospital you select, helping to ensure kids in your community get the care they need.”

The first 50 players to raise $50 or more will unlock a free event t-shirt, and additional shirts will be available for purchase with proceeds going to Extra Life. Players will compete in an initial qualifying tournament on January 18th and 19th. The top players from the qualifying tournament will earn a spot in the Playoffs stages on January 25th and 26th, where they’ll play for a piece of the $2,500 prize pool, JLab gear, and more. Additional event prizing and incentives include football memorabilia signed by Drew Bledsoe, Victor Cruz, Kyle Rudolph, and Marc Bulger. Matches from the final day of the Playoffs will be broadcast on https://twitch.tv/playflygg.

“JLab is excited to partner with Playfly Sports and Extra Life to support this incredible gaming event,” said Terra Teat, CMO at JLab. “We’re committed to giving back to the community and leveraging our sports partnerships to help raise money for a great cause. We’re excited to see the competition unfold, celebrate the winners and generate much needed funds to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”
