Playfly, McDonald's SoCal Announce Spring Spectacular Tournament

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Playfly Sports, the Fan Focused and Data Driven leader in sports media, marketing, and technology, is excited to announce its continued partnership with McDonald’s Southern California, as we embark on the fourth year of community gaming tournaments.

The next two-day tournament, the SoCal Gaming Spring Spectacular featuring VALORANT, is set for Saturday-Sunday, April 27-28. Register today HERE.

“We recognize the unique space gaming offers advertisers to engage with younger consumers,” says Marisol Sanchez, So Cal McDonald’s Owner/Operator. “Gen Z Gamers are an important target for McDonald’s. That’s why we offer gaming opportunities that are enjoyable and can build positivity between our target and the Brand.”

The collaboration hosts two gaming tournaments each year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall, with the next slated for April 27-28. The event is open to everyone in Southern California 13 years of age and older, and the winner takes home a custom pair of sneakers as well as cool McDonald’s swag.

“We were tasked with targeting a very specific demographic,” said Cameron Wong from Playfly Sports Properties. “I think we produced an out-of-the-box solution that has grown steadily over time and created a buzz for the client. This goes beyond branding; it’s a unique form of consumer engagement.”

The program originated in 2020 during the pandemic. Playfly created a turnkey solution for McDonalds, offering an event that essentially anyone of age could play. The program has seen growth with every event.  “We try and impress the players with the prizes”, says Wong. “But sometimes the ideas are so cool, creatively it can be tough to top. It’s a welcomed challenge.”
