UTSA Athletics Partners with Playfly Sports to Launch Playfly Max

SAN ANTONIO (February 26, 2025) – UTSA Athletics has announced the launch of Playfly Max, a first-of-its-kind integrated revenue solution designed for a new era of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) and the impending revenue sharing landscape for student-athletes. This pioneering initiative positions UTSA at the forefront of college athletics, ensuring it remains competitive while maximizing revenue opportunities.

Playfly Max is built on unlocking untapped revenue streams that have been historically underdeveloped in college sports. These opportunities have only expanded with the emergence of NIL, and Playfly Max aims to fully actualize them. Through a multi-pronged, fully integrated revenue generation engine, Playfly deploys proprietary technologies, specialty revenue concepts, revenue-generating events, and other specialized initiatives to create a customized strategy for UTSA. This approach ensures that student-athletes benefit directly while driving incremental revenue growth for the university which include alumni and donor programming, fan events, recurring membership programs, and marketing of specialized merchandise and memorabilia. In addition to its customizability, Playfly Max is designed to be highly flexible and adaptable, ensuring UTSA remains ahead of future industry changes.

“We are excited to introduce Playfly Max as part of our commitment to innovation and excellence in collegiate athletics,” said Lisa Campos, UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. “As the landscape continues to evolve, this partnership will allow us to fully capitalize on new opportunities that benefit our student-athletes and the entire Roadrunner community.”

Since September 2023, Playfly has served as UTSA’s multimedia rights partner, and expanding this collaboration through Playfly Max is a natural progression of their innovation-driven partnership. With its deep expertise in the commercial landscape and a trusted MMR relationship with UTSA, Playfly is well-positioned to drive the program’s success and support future revenue-sharing commitments.

“The Playfly Max platform is a game-changer in how schools approach revenue generation and athlete empowerment,” stated Jon Bishop, Vice President of Playfly Max. “UTSA’s forward-thinking approach makes them a perfect partner in this endeavor, and we look forward to driving tangible success for the university and its student-athletes.”

As part of this initiative, UTSA Athletics has named Jordan Pelt as the General Manager for Playfly Max at UTSA. Pelt joins from Grainger, where he played a key role in sales and business development, consistently exceeding revenue targets and leading strategic growth initiatives. His expertise in relationship management and revenue strategy will be instrumental in maximizing Playfly Max’s impact at UTSA. Pelt will lead efforts in identifying effective NIL opportunities with UTSA partners, and broker NIL deals with organizations beyond the MMR roster.

“I’m honored to join UTSA and Playfly Sports in launching Playfly Max,” said Pelt. “This is a pivotal moment in college athletics, and I’m excited to contribute to a solution that directly benefits student-athletes while enhancing the university’s financial future.”

With the introduction of Playfly Max, UTSA Athletics is set to redefine how revenue is generated in college sports, ensuring sustainable growth and enhanced opportunities for student-athletes.
